Gayton Cricket Club, "The Mighty Shrimpers", founded in 1891 is a traditional village cricket club. The club has been based back in the village since 1997 and has its own ground and pavilion. Since joining the South Northants Cricket League, the club has done well finishing in the top 6 in Division 1 for a couple of years running.

After years of mediocrity The Shrimpers won two promotions in three seasons to find themselves in Division One of the South Northants Cricket League. Their first season in Division One (2003) saw them finish in a respectable 6th position; this was improved on in 2004 when they finished a fantastic third.

In 2005 they were looking to gain promotion to the Premier League but due to a shortage of players and shortage of runs the Shrimpers were relegated on the last day of the season to Division Two.

They are now looking for new players for the next season in 2006, starting in April. If you feel you can help, drop them an email.

The Gayton Cricket Club website contains details on their fixtures, match reports and statistics, as well as additional information on the history of the club and the social events.
